At River Landing, community counts
River Landing is more than just a neighborhood; it’ a community filled with concerned residents who are always looking for ways to give back. Sometimes it’s on an individual level of one neighbor cooking dinner for another who is not feeling well. However, it’s often times the entire community coming together to make a difference.
This can be seen clearly through two wonderful, upcoming, resident-led events: “Swing for the Cure” golf tourney and the “Give Thanks for the Troops” Thanksgiving Day Celebration.
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, The River Landing Women’s Golf League is hosting its 8th Annual “Swing for the Cure” golf tournament and dinner on Saturday, Oct. 23. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Medicine, specifically for breast cancer research.
Next month, River Landing will host 150 Marines from Camp Lejeune for a very special Thanksgiving Day celebration. The entire neighborhood will welcome these heroes to River Landing with cheers and flags. Then 50 host families will open their homes to 2-4 Marines for a wonderful home-cooked Thanksgiving feast!
These are just two examples of the outpouring of care and support for others that you can expect to find when you live at River Landing.
